The Isle of Man’s finance sector has been given a big boost; the Isle of Man has been crowned International Finance Centre of the Year at the International Adviser Product and Service Awards, fending off strong competitors including Dublin, Jersey and Dubai.
The Product and Service Awards celebrate companies that offer cross-border products and services for advisers with international and/or expatriate clients. The event was judged and selected by a blend of industry experts and leading international financial advisers, and winners were finally announced on 3rd May at The Waldorf Hilton, London.
Commenting on the accolade, Martyn Perkins MHK, Member of the Department of Economic Development (DED) with responsibility for Financial Services, said: “The Isle of Man leads the way in customer focused financial services and innovation driven products and I’m delighted that we have been recognised for our continued drive for excellence.”
“The Island has years of international experience in its financial services sector and the awards recognise the hard work of our industry and government to create an environment where everyone can achieve their potential.”
The Isle of Man Government is indeed deeply committed to promoting and enhancing the Island’s reputation as a well-respected international business centre and as an established platform for business success and prosperity. Financial and professional services are the bedrock of the IOM economy in terms of National Income and employment. The sectors combined account for well over a third of the Isle of Man’s economy and remain two of the largest contributor to the Island’s track record of 34 years of unbroken economic growth.
In this scenario, the Award for International Finance Centre of the Year reflects the hard work of the Isle of Man Financial Services industry which has been focusing on generating an environment to encourage continued growth of high quality finance entities wishing to migrate to the Island or establish a new presence here.
Both the award and the widespread success of Isle of Man financial services industry show the Island to be a dynamic and diversified financial centre, a transparent international business partner and an incubator for innovation.
