Alison marks her 30th anniversary working at Abacus

Praise from work colleagues and friends for Alison Cowin's hard work, loyalty and commitment as she celebrates a significant career milestone.

Alison joined the company as an office junior from Isle of Man College in 1992, the year when the average house price was £68,634, a gallon of petrol was £2.13 and Bill Clinton was elected as the 42nd US President.

Alison said: “The office environment has changed dramatically, there were no emails when I started, it was either post, fax or hand delivery. Typewriters were still used for some jobs, the computers were only basic and I did a short course on how to use a mouse.

“Part of my college course included bookkeeping and after a year I was asked if I wanted to join to join the trust and company team as a junior administrator.  I really enjoy the variety of my role and all the people I share my working day with.”

Now a Senior Trust and Company Administrator Alison is responsible for the day to day management of a portfolio of client structures including employee trusts, investment holding companies and family trusts. She also assists with staff training on the company’s bespoke client administration system.

Managing director Kevin Loundes said: “We want to thank Alison for her hard work, loyalty and commitment, it is very much appreciated by all of us and most definitely by our clients, many of whom have known her throughout her career with us.”

Alison is a member of the Isle of Man Archery Club and in recent years has been the team manager for the Island Games.
