Abacus to announce a new presentation to the IoM Chamber of Commerce Members

Isle of Man based fiduciary services specialist, Abacus Trust Company Limited, is pleased to announce a new presentation to Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce members. The workshop ‘Addressing tax challenges in trust and company administration’ will be held at the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce offices on Tuesday 19 September.

Kevin Loundes, Associate Director, will deliver a presentation which will consider numerous recent developments in UK tax and how they impact on offshore trust and company structures. Kevin’s presentation will cover the proposed changes to the taxation of non-UK domiciliaries and the tax treatment of UK residential property, along with tightening of rules on tax planning and tax avoidance. Kevin will also discuss the key tax issues for bringing non-resident landlords within scope of UK corporation tax and how this may affect their tax position.

Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax, Kevin has over 10 years’ experience in advising offshore clients, with particular regard to residence, domicile and the use of offshore trusts and companies for tax efficient planning.

Kevin has a wealth of experience in the provision of international and UK tax advice to clients including offshore funds, property structures, trustees of offshore trusts and high net worth individuals.

Commenting on the upcoming seminar, Kevin said: “I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to speak to the Chamber Members. The volume of recent UK tax developments has increased the complexity for Island based administrators. This rate of change in UK tax legislation is making the task of managing structures effectively more and more challenging.

In a world of ever increasing tax transparency and exchange of information, it is essential to ensure that all tax risks have been identified and properly addressed. But what are the likely tax risks which trustees and company directors should carefully consider?”
