Abacus appoints a new Client Director and a Senior Tax Manager

Leading corporate, fiduciary and fund services provider, Abacus Trust Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Howland as a Client Director.

STEP qualified and a member of the Institute of Directors, Paul has some 25 years working in the CSP / TSP industry, having been with Zedra Trust Company (previously Barclays Trust Company) in the Isle of Man for many years, the last six of which as Deputy Managing Director.

Abacus CEO, Andrew Tailby-Faulkes said: “Paul has extensive knowledge in the offshore fiduciary and services industry and has a great deal of experience dealing with international clients and fiduciary structures; both will prove invaluable to Abacus. Additionally, his enthusiasm for developing new business relationships will assist in our strategic objective to grow the business by strengthening, deepening and promoting our services.”

In addition, Abacus Trust Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Aaron Maxwell as Senior Tax Manager. Aaron’s appointment will play a significant part in Abacus’ strategy to further expand the tax department.

Aaron has over thirty years experience in taxation of which twenty years has been on offshore related matters. He started his career in Dublin at a medium sized firm of accountants Kinnear & Co, which later became Grant Thornton, where he qualified as a tax advisor. He moved to the Isle of Man in 1996 where he spent much of his time at PKF, progressing to Senior Tax Manager and where he qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant under the UK system.  Whilst working at PKF, Aaron gained extensive experience in tax compliance, tax planning, as well as in the provision of offshore fiduciary services and offshore planning advice which he has significantly built upon in subsequent roles including latterly at Middleton Katz Chartered Secretaries LLC.

Aaron is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and an AITI Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
