As May grows closer, many in the aviation industry are getting ready for the premier aviation event, EBACE, also recognised as the annual meeting place for the European business aviation community.
Hosted by two of the world’s leading associations in the business aviation industry, the European Business Aviation Association (‘EBAA’) and the National Business Aviation Association (‘NBAA’), EBACE will be held at the prestigious Palexpo and Geneva International Airport from 24 – 26 May 2015.
Following last year’s success, leading fiduciary and fund services specialist Abacus will again be exhibiting at the event. Based at Stand Z099 this year, Trust Manager John-Michael McCann, will be joined by Abacus’ Client Services Manager and VAT Specialist Samantha Snow, who will be continuing Abacus’ strategy to promote the importance and benefits of luxury asset structuring.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Samantha Snow said: “Having attended a number of aviation conferences already this year, it is evident that the aviation industry is now becoming more sustainable following the repercussions of the economic crisis seven years ago. A number of manufacturers are experiencing growth in their order books and they continue to push the boundaries for technological innovation, a good indicator that they believe there is once again a buyers’ market present.
“However, when purchasing a high value asset such as an aircraft it is essential to consider whether there may be wider financial or other liability implications, the answer to which will vary greatly depending on the intended use of the aircraft. Our aim is to speak with owners and their representatives and to inform and assist them with the diverse requirements essential to the effective ownership, planning, registration and operation of an aircraft.”
Based in the Isle of Man and Malta, the Abacus group of companies are ideally located in two key aviation jurisdictions, affording them the ability to offer an attractive proposition to aircraft owners and their representatives in this sector.
The Isle of Man is home to a registry which continues to grow from strength to strength as well as its popularity. Whether this is due to its neutral ‘M’ prefix, its competitive scheme of charges or its high regulatory standards and customer services ethic, the backing and support of the Isle of Man Government and its Department of Economic Development, will only further help its proposition and consequently its continued success going forward.
On the other hand Malta is also home to an ever growing aviation sector. Thanks to its proactive government who are continually looking at ways in which they can develop their proposition; this was most recently heard from Minister for Tourism at a local aviation conference, in which he said the Government was to review its current aircraft leasing scheme to make it even more attractive. The jurisdiction considered ‘onshore with offshore benefits’ offers aircraft registration to both the private and commercial aircraft markets, as well as fractional ownership, registration whilst under construction and engine registration – something that is not offered by every aviation jurisdiction.
Trust Manager, John-Michael McCann, commented: “Having both attended and exhibited at a number of aviation events over the last four years, EBACE is without doubt one of the best networking platforms for the industry, with exhibitors and delegates ranging from business leaders to government officials, corporate aviation departments to manufacturers, professional service providers to legal representatives. I am looking forward to meeting with new and existing contacts and to be able to discuss the challenges and opportunities that the industry is likely to be subject to with other like-minded professionals, who like me, have a keen interest in the industry.”
