Malta’s Individual Investor Programme

We are pleased to announce that we have been granted Accredited Agent status for the Malta Individual Investor Programme (‘Malta IIP’) from Identity Malta, to act as an authorised intermediary in accordance with the Malta IIP Regulations, on behalf of individuals wishing to apply for Maltese Citizenship.

Following an amendment to the Maltese Citizenship Act, Chapter 188 of the Laws of Malta which was passed in November 2013, foreign individuals and families who make a financial contribution to the economic and social development of Malta may be granted Maltese Citizenship, by a certificate of naturalisation.

The first programme of its kind to be recognised and deemed legal by the European Commission, the Malta Individual Investor Programme (‘Malta IIP’) is aimed at ultra-high net worth individuals and their families wishing to secure citizenship of an EU member state.

To succeed in meeting the requirements necessary to be granted a certificate of naturalisation, the Main Applicant must qualify under the strict vetting process and due diligence standards of the Maltese Government.

Principal Applicants may also include dependents on their Malta IIP application, including; their spouses; dependents of 26 years of age and under and dependents over the age of 55, but they too, must all satisfy the programme’s eligibility criteria.

Why Malta?
The Maltese Archipelago is located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, midway between Europe and North Africa. With a landscape ranging from low hills to limestone cliffs, to flat rural farmland and coastal beaches, Malta has a terrain suited to everyone, and complemented by a typical Mediterranean climate that enjoys around 300 days of sunshine each year, residents and visitors alike are spoilt with hot and dry summers, short mild winters with warm and sunny in-between.

Furthermore, Malta has not only withstood the challenges of the global economic crisis but has experienced continued growth across its diverse economy over the last ten years. This success has changed it from being just a popular tourist destination and turned it into a regional hub and centre of excellence across many business sectors, driving it up the ranks as one of the leading finance centres in Europe.

Its business friendly and economically stable environment remains focused towards doing business, and with close proximity and easy access to nearby markets in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, it offers foreign investors a host of opportunities and benefits.

Whilst one of the smallest of the European Union’s member states, Malta has proven itself one of the fastest growing financial services centres in the world. Following its movement from an offshore to an onshore jurisdiction, today’s Malta is a jurisdiction that boasts an actively supportive government and a robust regulatory framework; qualities associated with a well-established and reputable jurisdiction, both sustainable and effective in regulating a range of financial services.

Malta is a highly respected, politically stable country which boasts a number of significant attributes, including;
